"It's your turn!"

Turning a locomotive on a manual turntable can be a back-breaking exercise but the gallant lads on the West Somerset Railway turned every one of them between services over the recent gala weekend. Here we see the crew of S&D class 7F 2-8-0 no. 53808 turning over 100 tons of locomotive and tender which aren't even perfectly balanced! Notice that the turntable wheels at the tender end stay still which means that, in order to lock the turntable when turning is complete, the loco has to set back slightly.
