Editors Notes:
Saturday 2nd March 2019 was notable for yet more heavy rain and near gale-force winds - and for two steam excursions over the S&C run by West Coast Railways. The first we see is their own run to Carlisle and back from Peterborough which was headed from Hellifield by the now-unique main line registered goods engine, Stanier 8F no 48151. We see it heading north at Lazonby. Then comes 35018 "British India Line" heading south in the afternoon as the rain lashes down near Kirkby Stephen at Waitby. This train was one of the series of Winter Cumbrian Mountain Expresses from Euston via the West Coast Main Line to Carlisle and back via the S&C and had originally been scheduled for haulage by a "Jubilee".
