Editors Notes:
One of, if not the, outstanding events of 2018 was the completion of the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway's reproduction of the Baldwin-designed 2-4-2 tank which ran on the original railway back at the beginning of the 20th century. And to cap it? Every L&B enthusiast that ever was waited patiently to see both types of L&B locomotive working together - and that happened over the weekend of 29/30th September. Here we stand on the (windswept!) hillside overlooking Woody Bay station as the Baldwin - "Lyn" - drops down into the station to lead the visiting "Lyd" from the Ffestiniog in the afternoon of the Sunday and then leads the train away southwards across the hills of Exmoor: recreations don't come better than this!
