The recommisioning ceremony for the newly overhauled 'Battle of Britain' locomotive No. 34072 257 Squadron has been postponed due to new rulings requested by the boiler inspector.
The event was due to take place on September 30 at Corfe Castle on the Swanage Railway, with Oliver Bulleid's grandson in attendance, to celebrate the Light Pacific engine's return but Southern Locomotives ltd have been forced to re-schedule the event.
The locomotive is ready to steam but new rulings have been brought in which require further tests on the boiler so that the locomotive can be passed for insurance reasons.
Swanage Railway hopes that No. 34072 will be able to run alongside recently rebuilt classmate, No. 34053 Sir Keith Park at a special event next year which will welcome Sir Keith Park to the Purbeck line on a permanent basis.
