The Severn Valley Railway's Autumn Gala is renowned as one of - if not the - outstanding enthusiast events of the year, with important visitors and continuous running over three days, including trains throughout the night. Human visitors crowd out the local hostelries and camper vans the parking spaces and all are there to see the visiting machinery. This Autumn's outstanding visitor saw the first working of "The Duchess", resplendent in her original LMS Crimson Lake after a 10-year overhaul. We see her departing Highley, despite the arrival at the last minute of an individual who plonked himself right in front of those who had waited patiently and refused to budge.
